Doug Gerlach is the author of six books, including The Armchair Millionaire, Investment Clubs for Dummies, and The Pocket Idiot Guide to Direct Stock Investing. He was a consulting editor for Mutual Funds Magazine and has written for many magazines, including BetterInvesting, Individual Investor, PC World, and ComputerLife. As President of ICLUBcentral Inc. Doug oversees the development of tools for individual investors and investment clubs, including StockCentral.com, EquityResearchService.com, and myICLUB.com. Gerlach is a popular speaker and educator at investor fairs and conferences around the country, and has spoken at events from Berlin to Honolulu.
Scott Horsburgh, CFA
Scott Horsburgh has been a professional investment manager for 25 years and has been writing for BetterInvesting magazine for more than a decade. Scott graduated from Hillsdale College in 1986 summa cum laude with a major in economics. Prior to joining Provident Investment Management Inc. in 1992, he spent six years managing pension funds and charitable trusts for National Bank of Detroit, one of the nation’s largest banks. Scott was named President of Provident in 2005. Scott is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
Dan Boyle, CFA
Dan Boyle is Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager for Provident Investment Management Inc. He is a member of the Editorial Advisory and Securities Selection Committee for BetterInvesting and has been writing for the organization for seven years. Prior to joining Provident in 2004, he spent seven years as Partner with the private equity firm White Pines Ventures of Ann Arbor, making and monitoring investments. He has also worked in the economics department for Chrysler and for FAME Information Services, a technology provider to the investment services industry. Dan is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). and holds a Masters in Business and Administration and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan.
Miles Putnam, CFA
Miles Putnam is a Research Analyst at Provident Investment Management Inc., focusing on technology and consumer goods. He is also a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Miles received a Bachelor of Arts with Highest Honors in Economics from the University of Michigan, as well as a Master of Science from UM’s School of Information. Miles is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). Before joining Provident in 2010, he previously worked as a research associate in behavior finance economics, and as an intellectual property analyst for Ocean-Tomo LLC.
